Our art classes are designed to teach students the skills they need in order to be able to draw the world around them. The skill of drawing has more to do with accurate observation than it does with how to use a pen or pencil. If you can write your name, then you can learn how to draw. Our classes are a combination of structure and freedom. A non-judgmental, non-competitive environment where it is safe to explore and learn.
Our drawing classes combine multiple methodologies to understand perspective, proportion, line, and the qualities of the materials we use.
The guided drawing method provides a framework for students to learn about the 5 basic elements of shape by following specific instructions from the teacher.
We believe that an understanding of these elements (just like the understanding of musical notes) will enhance a child's creativity, not diminish it.
Aside from learning how to draw, your child will learn the skills of perseverance, problem solving and resilience. Their confidence will increase, not only in their ability as an artist, but in their ability to trust themselves, look for and find approval from within.
